Sponsors Return for 2019 World Triathlon Bermuda

Hamilton, Bermuda (November 25, 2018) – All locally based Title and Main Sponsors from the 2018 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda are returning for the 2019 event taking place April 27.

“We are absolutely delighted to support the 2019 World Triathlon Bermuda,” said James Few of title sponsor MS Amlin.  “The 2018 triathlon was such a success for all concerned and we are very pleased to continue our partnership with both the organisers and the sport.  We’re already excited to see what next year’s event will bring!”

In addition to MS Amlin, four Main Sponsors are returning including Hamilton Princess as host hotel, The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Press Holdings as media partner, BF&M and the Bermuda Tourism Authority. Discussions are underway with a growing number of additional potential sponsors and partners.

“It’s a very encouraging sign to see all the top tier sponsors return next year,” said Bermuda Tourism Authority Chief Product and Experiences Development Officer Pat Phillip-Fairn. “This is an endorsement of the Bermuda Triathlon Association, our colleagues in Government, our team at the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the scores of volunteers who worked with the ITU to make year one of this global event an overwhelming success. We are laser focused now on making improvements for year two and building on our collective successes.”

The 2018 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda was the first of three consecutive years of the ITU World Triathlon Series out here.  In 2021, Bermuda will host the World Triathlon Grand Final, a significantly larger event.

Last year’s event generated an economic impact of $4.4 million, representing a 152 percent return on the $2.9 million investment by the Government of Bermuda, according to a PwC Economic Impact Study.  The total event cost came in at $3.4 million, which includes $500,000 in revenue from corporate sponsor packages and athlete registration fees. Media coverage of MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda netted an estimated 1.1 million viewers, generating further benefits for the island as a tourism destination.

In all 809 individuals travelled to the island for the triathlon, 304 of them to participate.

Registration is currently open for group and individual participants looking to compete in the 2019 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda.  The race for professional and age group competitors takes place April 27, 2019 in and around Hamilton, while a kids’ duathlon will happen the day before along Front Street.
