MS Amlin appoints Peer Van Harten as chairman of MS AISE
MS Amlin, the specialist global (re)insurer, today announced it has appointed Peer Van Harten as chairman of MS Amlin Insurance Societas Europaea (S.E.) (“MS AISE”) in Brussels, effective immediately. Van Harten will replace Shonaid Jemmett-Page, who has held the role on an interim basis.
Van Harten brings more than twenty-five years of experience within the insurance sector to the role. With an academic background in business administration, he spent the early part of his career in sales and commercial positions within the high technology, chemical and distribution industries before moving into growth, restructuring, and transformation roles in insurance. More recently, Van Harten has worked in private equity and as a consultant and holds a number of non-executive positions. He served as the CEO of Fortis Insurance, the holding company of Fortis Corporate Insurance which was acquired by Amlin in 2009.
MS AISE, MS Amlin’s legal trading entity for the UK and Europe, was granted a licence by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) in 2018 for insurance and reinsurance activities from its Brussels office and associated branches in the European Economic Area (EEA). MS Amlin re-domiciled its European entity operations to be fully operational from the new base as of 1 January 2019.
